Security and encryption: PayPal employs industry-leading encryption, fraud
prevention, and buyer and seller protection policies to safeguard you. PayPal
has encrypted the button code using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol at an
encryption key length of 128 bits, the highest level commercially available.
Encrypted code provides a higher level of security because it appears as
meaningless, continuous string of letters, character and numbers.
